The president AMLO announced a meeting with Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser; they will discuss the sale of Banamex.
It has been established that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will meet with Jane Fraser, CEO of Citigroup, and that they would probably talk about buying Banamex.
«They asked for an interview. The lady will be with us, I will receive her together with the Secretary of Finance, and we will surely talk about the issue, about the bank that is being sold, about Banamex,» he said.
He noted that his government’s goal was to ensure that Mexicans kept control of the majority of the bank’s shares and that Banamex’s cultural legacy stayed in Mexico rather than being exported.
