Adam Silver, the NBA Commissioner, has been nominated to lead Disney
All eyes have been on Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger’s revised succession plan from the day of his contentious reinstatement last year following the catastrophic Bob Chapek era. Fox Business is now reporting a new name that has been put to the shortlist, and it’s an interesting one at that. Many names in The Walt Disney Corporation executive camp have been tossed around.
Adam Silver, the NBA’s current commissioner, has been put to the list with the knowledge that his NBA contract expires in 2024. With a law degree and a wealth of negotiation expertise, the most recent heavyweight to join the alleged shortlist has been associated with the NBA since 1992. Silver received David Stern’s support as Stern’s replacement as commissioner in 2012, and when Stern resigned in 2014, the NBA owners unanimously elected Silver to take his position.
A bio-secure bubble at Walt Disney World would allow the sport to continue in a constrained setting. Silver was in charge of the decision to cancel the current NBA season in 2020.
