Mexican, Canadian, and United States authorities will meet in Cancun on July 6 and 7

Canada’s Minister of Trade, Mary Ng; the United States Trade Representative, Katherine Tai; and Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, Raquel Buenrostro, will meet on July 6 and 7 in Cancun, at a time when several policies of the Latin American country, questioned by the other two nations, are at the center of controversy.

The meeting was announced in a press release by the office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), which informed that the head of the agency, Katherine Tai, will be in the Cancun resort on July 6 and 7 to participate in the talks.

Within the framework of the North American Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the governments of the United States and Canada have begun negotiations regarding actions taken by the Mexican government regarding the use of transgenic corn. There are also disagreements in the sectors of energy and mining.

Tai will hold a trilateral meeting with Mexican Secretary Raquel Buenrostro and Canadian Minister Mary Ng, with whom he will also have bilateral meetings, according to USTR.
