Elon Musk rebands twitter’s recognizable bird emblem with an «X»
As part of a comprehensive revamp that he revealed on the social media platform over the weekend, Twitter owner Elon Musk officially changed the company’s iconic bird emblem to a «X» on Monday.
Musk announced in a statement on Sunday that the firm would soon «bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.» Musk paid $44 billion to acquire the platform late last year. Monday saw the domain X.com change to point users to Twitter’s home page, however Twitter.com is still operational. For a large number of users, branding in the mobile app has not yet changed.
The switch from Twitter to X is a reflection of Musk’s goal to make the platform into what he has dubbed a «everything app.» In a statement published on Sunday, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino stated that X will be «centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking.» She continued by saying that artificial intelligence would also power the platform.
The Tesla CEO said in a tweet on Sunday that he likes the letter «x,» but his past business endeavors indicate that this is nothing new. Musk recently unveiled a new artificial intelligence startup called xAI with the ambitious ambition to «understand the true nature of the universe.» SpaceX, Musk’s rocket company, also has an X as its logo.
