In August, auto sales in Mexico increased to 113,873 units, their highest level in five months
The sales of automobiles in Mexico strengthened in August as more than 113,800 units were sold, which was the highest number in the previous five months. Nissan, General Motors (GM), and Volkswagen were the most popular light vehicle brands.
Mexico sold 113,873 light vehicles to the general public during the month of August, the highest number since 118,801 cars were sold in the country during the same month last year.
The sale of automobiles increased in August by 23.8% as compared to the same month the previous year, as well as by a modest 2.7% from the previous month.
Mexico sold 857,803 units in the months of January through August, a 23.6% increase from the same time period in 2022.
Nissan continues to hold the top spot in sales of light vehicles in Mexico, and in August it sold more than 21,000 units, which was a record high for the company in the previous five months.
According to RAIAVL data, the Japanese automaker sold 21,182 vehicles in October, the most since March, when 22,623 units were sold.
After Nissan, the most popular brands in August were General Motors (16,356 units), Volkswagen (9,786 units), KIA (7,915 units), and Toyota (7,723).
The remaining five brands are Chrysler (5,669 vehicles), Mazda (5,532), MG Motor (5,006), Hyundai (4,596), and Ford Motor (4,107).
