Netflix makes its video games available on PCs and televisions
In a fresh effort to grow this line of business, streaming service Netflix revealed that it has started a pilot project to make its video games playable on televisions and computers.
According to a statement on its page, Netflix started providing video games for smartphones and tablets in 2021, and starting this Monday, «a small number of members in Canada and the United Kingdom» will have access to an initial test of this service on desktops and televisions.
«Oxenfree» from Night School Studio (Netflix) and «Molehew’s Mining Adventure,» described in the press release as «an arcade gem mining game,» are the games that will be released.
For TV games, users will use their smartphones as controllers, while Mac and PC users will utilize a keyboard and a mouse.
The platform also noted that the project is currently in its very early stages of development and that, once made accessible to the general public, the games would be compatible with LG TVs, Chromecast with Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, and other TV media players, as well as its website for desktops.
