StubHub reports a 60% increase in NBA season ticket sales due to increased international demand
The Los Angeles Lakers are once again the most in-demand team, with ticket sales for the NBA season starting next week up nearly 60% from the previous year.
According to spokesperson Adam Budelli, the ticket exchange’s yearly NBA preview details its predictions for the forthcoming basketball season based on years’ worth of data. The next season begins on October 24.
Visitors are pouring into North American games from 92 nations, an increase of 24 from previous season. The most popular nations for NBA game attendance include Australia, the United Kingdom, and Brazil. StubHub estimated that those overseas sales would increase by 120% from the previous season.
Since 2017, the Lakers, who boast superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, have finished first in StubHub’s predictions four times. The Denver Nuggets, the NBA champion from the previous season, are notable for being absent from the list.
He added that following Damian Lillard’s trade to the already-stout Milwaukee Bucks on September 27, ticket sales more than doubled, with the team’s home opener likely to be the most popular game of the year.
