The British magazine «The Spectator» and newspaper group «Telegraph» were up for sale
After the rich Barclay family’s bankruptcy, the British journalism firm Telegraph Media firm Ltd. and that of the magazine «The Spectator» were placed up for sale this Friday.
The publications of «The Daily Telegraph» and «The Sunday Telegraph,» as well as the weekly established in 1828, have announced in a statement that the administrators have started the bidding process to locate the future owners. These are the boards of directors of both enterprises.
The German publishing group Axel Springer, the owner of the British newspaper «Daily Mail,» the regional press behemoth «National World,» and Paul Marshall, one of the investors in the new British television station «GB News,» are among the competitors confirmed by these conservative outlets.
Analysts estimate that the right-wing «The Spectator,» which was once led by former prime minister Boris Johnson, might reach 70 million (80 million euros) readers, while the «Telegraph» group, whose media serves as a reference for the British Conservative Party, could reach about 500 million pounds (572 million euros).
