The second week of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert film brings her domestic total to $31 million.
The pop star’s concert movie, Eras Tour, made the most money at the domestic box office during its second weekend of release, taking in $31 million.
The weekend total is a 66% decline from its debut weekend and is comparable to the biggest box office successes from Marvel, DC, and Star Wars.
Swift’s film became the first to earn over $100 million in the United States and Canada with only Thursday’s ticket sales, which came to just under $6 million.
The Eras Tour movie has made an estimated $129.8 million at the US box office overall. The movie’s distributor, AMC, will provide updated global numbers on Monday. Swift’s movie will surpass Michael Jackson’s 2009 film «This Is It» to become the highest-grossing global concert film of all time if it raises over $262.5 million before its November run ends.
According to data from Comscore, Miley Cyrus’ 2008 «Best of Both Worlds Concert» earned $31.1 million during its domestic debut, but the Eras Tour concert film has already achieved the greatest opening weekend domestically for a concert film and the widest domestic release for a concert film (opening in more than 3,850 locations).
