Elon Musk claims that the first human Neuralink trial participant can use a brain implant to operate a computer mouse
The billionaire’s firm claims to have created a brain implant that enables people to control external devices using their neurological impulses.
In January, Neuralink successfully implanted their gadget in a human being. The gadget is precisely implanted in the brain by the business using a robot.
The goal of Neuralink, according to Musk, the CEO of Tesla as well, is to persuade the patient to push «as many buttons from thinking.» He mentioned that one way to achieve this would be to drag boxes on a screen using the mouse.
According to a blog post, Neuralink gained clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to conduct its first in-human clinical research back in May, and the company started enrolling patients for the study in the autumn.
Neuralink is only one step closer to commercialization with its in-human clinical study. Before receiving the FDA’s ultimate clearance, medical device businesses must go through many rounds of rigorous testing and data collecting related to data safety.
