Along with his lengthy history of supporting the arts, Rothschild served as a trustee of the National Gallery of Britain from 1985 to 1991.
The Rothschild banking family’s history begins in Frankfurt in the eighteenth century, from which various family members dispersed to establish banking operations in other European towns.
