Netflix will live broadcast Jake Paul’s boxing battle against Mike Tyson
With live sports, Netflix is making a big splash. The scandal-plagued former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and YouTuber-turned-fighter Jake Paul will square off in a «boxing mega-event» on July 20 that will stream live only on Netflix, the streaming giant revealed on Thursday.
According to a press statement from the firm, Tyson and Paul will square off inside AT&T Stadium, which has 80,000 seats and is home to the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League in Arlington, Texas.
In an effort to establish itself as the top at-home viewing destination in the US and push out established players in broadcast and cable, Netflix said in a news release that the event represents one of its most ambitious ventures into live entertainment and sports programming.
The firm and World Wide Wrestling have came to an exclusive 10-year agreement for the streaming rights to the weekly main event of World Wide Wrestling, «Raw,» beginning in January 2025.
With the documentary series «Untold,» as well as shows like «Formula 1: Drive to Survive,» «NASCAR: Full Speed,» and «Tour de France: Unchained,» Netflix solidified its reputation for sports entertainment. «The Netflix Cup» and «The Netflix Slam» are the two live sporting events that the platform has so far staged.
