OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, reinstates Sam Altman to its board of directors

The company that created ChatGPT, OpenAI, said on Friday that Sam Altman, the CEO, had been returned to the board of directors after being removed in November.
Sue Desmond-Hellmann, a former director of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Nicole Seligman, a former executive at Sony Entertainment, and Fidji Simo, the CEO of Instacart, were also added to the board, according to a statement released by OpenAI.
Altman was fired in November from OpenAI after losing the «confidence» of the board of directors, a fact that opened a turbulent process at the company in which most workers threatened to resign and a block of shareholders – including Microsoft – pushed for his return.
Days after his dismissal, Altman was reappointed as a director of OpenAI, but was not reinstated to his seat on the board.
This peculiar chapter is concluded by OpenAI with his return to the board of directors.
