The top nation for millionaires and billionaires is the United States
As to a recent survey, the United States has swiftly surpassed China to become the global leader in millionaires and billionaires.
According to the 2024 USA Wealth Report from Henley & Partners and New World Wealth, there are already over 5.5 million Americans with liquid investable assets of more than $1 million, up 62% over the previous ten years and far higher than the worldwide growth rate of 38%.
The number of millionaires in the United States has increased by 35% during the last five years, almost twice as quickly as in China. 37% of the world’s millionaires currently reside in the United States, up from 35% in 2018.
At the top of the wealth ladder, the difference widens yet further. Compared to China’s 2,352, which has 2,352 centi-millionaires (those worth $100 million or more), the United States has 9,850. China has 305 billionaires, compared to around 788 billionaires in the United States.
The patterns of wealth movement also show the change from China to the U.S. In 2023, a record 13,500 Chinese millionaires fled the country. In 2023, there were 2,200 net new millionaires entering the country; in 2024, that number is expected to reach 3,500.
