According to CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft would spend $1.7 billion in AI infrastructure in Indonesia
Microsoft said on Tuesday that it will invest $1.7 billion over the course of the next four years to develop new AI and cloud infrastructure in Indonesia. On the same day, CEO Satya Nadella and President Joko Widodo of Indonesia met and the announcement was made.
According to Microsoft, the money will also be used to promote the local developer community and teach 840,000 Indonesians in artificial intelligence.
“This new generation of AI is reshaping how people live and work everywhere, including in Indonesia,” Nadella, chairman and CEO of Microsoft, stated in a declaration.
Microsoft also said that by 2025, it will work with communities, governments, and organizations to provide 2.5 million residents of member nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations AI skilling opportunities.
Indonesia’s population is youthful, tech-savvy, and expanding. Of the country’s population, around 28%, or 75.49 million people, are members of Generation Z, who were born between 1997 and 2012. Twenty-nine million individuals, or twenty-nine percent of the population, are classified as millennials, or those born between 1981 and 1996.
In order to accommodate client requests for data storage in the nation, Microsoft established its first data center area in Indonesia in 2021.
