Google shifts part of its operations to Mexico and eliminates 200 important jobs in the US
The most recent reductions occur at a moment when Google’s growth rate is at its strongest since early 2022.
200 employees were let go from Google’s «mainframe» as part of a restructure that also included the relocation of some business operations to Mexico and India.
Information technology employees, its Python development team, technical infrastructure, security, application platforms, engineering, and senior developers are among those laid off.
As per the company’s statement, the core unit has the responsibility of constructing the technological basis for its flagship goods and safeguarding the online security of consumers.
He added that Asim Husain, vice president of Google’s developer ecosystem, emailed his staff last week to let them know about the layoffs and told them in a meeting that this was the biggest decrease his department had planned for the year.
