The British economy might gain roughly $1 billion from Taylor Swift’s «Eras Tour.»
Barclays believes that Taylor Swift’s «Eras Tour» would increase consumer spending in the UK by about $1 billion.
In a report released on Wednesday, the British bank predicted that almost 1.2 million Swifties would see the superstar perform in the UK this summer. The average Swiftie is predicted to spend £642 ($810) on travel, lodging, and other costs, bringing in a total of £755 million ($953 million) for the economy.
This is only the most recent instance of «Swiftonomics,» the phenomenon wherein an artist may impact the economics of the nations and communities she visits during her massive world tour, which began in the United States in March of last year.
Supporters are expected to spend £121 ($153) on lodging, £111 ($140) on transportation, and £59 ($74) on dining at nearby locations, according Barclays, which based its projections on customer transaction data and exclusive consumer research.
In June and August, Swift will play fifteen gigs in four UK cities—England, Wales, and Scotland. After tickets went on sale, the concerts were sold out in a matter of minutes, with attendees spending an average of £206 ($260) for a single ticket, according to Barclays.
According to Barclays research, concertgoers in the UK will spend an average of £848 ($1,068) per, including the cost of their tickets. This is more than 12 times the average cost of a night out in the country.
This year, performances in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland, and Austria are part of the «Eras Tour’s» European leg.
A growing number of Swift’s American admirers are opting to watch her perform abroad. The total cost of going to one of Swift’s concerts in Europe is frequently less than that of her events in the US, where tickets are significantly more expensive, even after accounting for travel and lodging costs.
