In April, Apple reports a 52% rise in iPhone sales in China
Data from a Chinese government-affiliated research agency shows that Apple’s smartphone shipments in China increased 52% in April compared to a year earlier, continuing a recent upward trend.
The increase comes after the American tech giant underperformed in the largest smartphone market in the world earlier this year, when local competitors like Huawei were posing an increasingly fierce rivalry in the high-end smartphone market.
Shipments of foreign-branded phones in China rose 52% in April to 3.495 million units from 2.301 million a year earlier, data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) showed Tuesday.
Apple shares rose 2.3% in pre-market trading.
Apple’s shipments in China rose 12% in March, a significant improvement over the first two months of 2024, when the company experienced a 37% drop in sales.
