$10 billion will be invested by Amazon to create a cloud-based logistics network and company
The technology giant Amazon will invest 10,000 million euros in Germany with the aim of expanding both its logistics network and its cloud infrastructure in the Central European country, where it expects to reach 40,000 employees by the end of the year.
As reported Wednesday in a statement, of the 10,000 million investment announced, 8,800 million will go to the development of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure in the Rhine-Main area until 2026, while 1,200 million will be invested in logistics, robotics and corporate headquarters.
The IT business also intends to expand its research and development center in the nation’s capital, Berlin, and Munich, where it is constructing two new corporate headquarters.
Thanks to these developments and the 4,000 new positions created this year, Amazon will have 40,000 permanent employees in Germany by the end of 2024.
