«Inside Out 2» becomes the first film to reach $1 billion at the box office worldwide in 2024
The very emotional «Inside Out 2» from Disney and Pixar is the first movie of the year to break $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
The animated follow-up has brought in $469.3 million in North America and $545.5 million abroad in its 19 days of play, for a total of $1.015 billion globally. This animated movie is the fastest to become a billion-dollar film out of the 11 that have done so (eight of them are Disney productions).
Disney’s Pixar animation studio had much needed success with the billion-dollar threshold. After the epidemic, Pixar—a studio that was once wildly successful—has struggled at the movie office. A significant portion of its problems have arisen as a result of Disney’s decision to release a few animated films straight on the streaming platform Disney+ both during and after theater closures.
With 14% of foot traffic coming from individuals between the ages of 13 and 17, «Inside Out 2» also attracted the sought-after adolescent demographic to theaters. In recent years, this younger generation has mostly disappeared from the market.
