Back-to-school season helps Amazon’s Prime Day establish a record with $14.2 billion in online sales
During the 48-hour Amazon Prime Day event, customers at U.S. merchants spent a record $14.2 billion online, according to an Adobe Analytics analysis that was made public on Thursday.
In an effort to draw in shoppers seeking for steep discounts, businesses like Walmart and Target have also launched promotions in response to the Amazon event.
July is usually a sluggish month for businesses, but thanks to Amazon’s two-day shopping extravaganza, parents are now seeking for deals, especially on apparel, electronics, uniforms, bags, decorations, and school supplies.
More products were sold over the course of the two days of this year’s Prime Day event than in any prior year, according to Amazon.
