The social media music licensing deal between Universal Music and Meta is renewed
The largest record label in the world, Universal Music Group (UMG), and Facebook’s parent company, Meta Platforms, announced on Monday an extended partnership to open up new social media channels for UMG’s artists and composers.
The label that handles Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish said, «UMG was the first major music company to license Facebook in 2017 and this new agreement will further expand the possibilities for music within the Meta ecosystem.»
All significant Meta platforms are covered by the deal, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and—for the first time—WhatsApp.
According to UMG, the problem of artist and composer pay is also covered under the revised agreement.
