Parts shortage forces Rivian to halt production of Amazon vans
Due to a scarcity of parts, Rivian has temporarily halted manufacturing of its commercial delivery vans, which are utilized by the massive online retailer Amazon, an electric vehicle manufacturer’s representative said on Friday.
The Irvine, California-based company’s shares slightly declined in early trade.
The production stoppage is the most recent in a string of supply chain difficulties for Rivian, which, like other manufacturers of electric vehicles, has struggled with serious manufacturing problems during the previous two years as a result of a scarcity of suppliers.
The business refuses to say on when the manufacturing slowdown started and whether it has restarted, and also withheld any information regarding the particular part and supplier in question.
