The 49ers will spend $200 million to host the World Cup and Super Bowl LX
The San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL) said on Tuesday that they will spend $200 million modernizing Levi’s Stadium, home of the NFL team that will host Super Bowl LX and other FIFA World Cup events in 2026.
In addition to Super Bowl LX, Levi’s Stadium will host six World Cup 2026 matches: one round of 16 match on July 1 and five regular phase matches on June 13, 16, 19, 22, and 25.
Constructed at a cost of 1.2 billion dollars, the National Conference winners’ stadium can accommodate 68,500 spectators and was officially opened on July 17, 2014.
The team said on Tuesday that it will be investing an additional $200 million, which will enable the installation of the biggest 4K screen in NFL stadiums as well as a new LED lighting system for the playing field.
In order to deliver high-speed Internet throughout the stadium, the 1,300 access points in the Cisco 6 Wi-Fi infrastructure will also be updated.
Not to mention the refurbishment of over 120 luxury suites and the addition of two new outside bars from which to view the games.
It is anticipated that the upgrades will be finished prior to the 2025 NFL season.
