Google wants to postpone its plan to let competitors into its app store

Google requested a stay of a broad order mandating it to allow more competitors into its Play app store from a federal judge in California.

Google claimed that the injunction issued by U.S. District Judge James Donato on November 1st will negatively impact the corporation and create «serious security and privacy risks to the Android ecosystem» in a court filing on Friday night.

The tech behemoth, an Alphabet division, requested a restraining order from Donato so that it could file an appeal.

In a lawsuit brought by «Fortnite» developer Epic Games, which convinced a federal jury last year that Google was unlawfully monopolizing the ways in which users download programs for Android devices and make payments for in-app purchases, the court granted the injunction on October 7.
