China applauds Apple’s sustained and expanded presence
During a meeting on Friday, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao informed Apple Inc.’s CEO Tim Cook that the U.S. tech giant is free to keep expanding its market share in China, according to a statement from the ministry.
The comment echoed what China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology said to Cook at a Beijing meeting earlier this week.
Through frequent interactions between the government and businesses, China is prepared to assist in restoring Sino-American trade and economic relations to a sound and steady course of growth, Wang continued.
Wang assured Cook that China will continue to offer high-quality services to international businesses and better optimize the business climate, but he also stated that the emphasis on national security «is not conducive to normal economic and trade exchanges».
