The Dodgers will honor Fernando Valenzuela by wearing a World Series patch
In remembrance of the late pitcher Fernando Valenzuela, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced Thursday that they will wear a patch on their jersey for the next Major League Baseball season and during the World Series against the New York Yankees.
«The Dodgers will wear this uniform patch during the World Series and throughout the 2025 season in honor of our hero Fernando Valenzuela,» the team said on its social network X account.
The former pitcher’s name, «Fernando,» and the number 34 he wore on his jersey—which the team retired last year—will be displayed on the patch.
According to the band that made him famous, Valenzuela passed away in Los Angeles last Tuesday from liver issues that would have resulted in a multi-organ collapse.
