With a 3 billion pesos investment, IKEA has its largest opening in Mexico
IKEA, a Swedish business, has established the country’s largest shop in Guadalajara.
The new shop, which has a surface area of 37,000 m2, is not only the largest, but it will also be sustainable, with solar and rainwater systems.
Cedric Gulbierz, IKEA Guadalajara store manager, noted that this opening is critical to the brand’s expansion in Mexico, as they will go from having two physical locations (CDMX and Puebla) and one eCommerce site to three physical stores.
However, IKEA’s future ambitions in the nation include opening one additional shop in Monterrey and a second in Mexico City.
IKEA came in Mexico with its Oceania shop in 2021, and its sales have increased at a 15% annual rate since then. eCommerce sales increased by 42% between 2022 and 2023, and by 24% in 2024.
Furthermore, the furniture and appliance manufacturer plans to have 15% of its items made in Mexico.
