«Extraordinary” years ahead for Mexico, says Carlos Hank González
Carlos Hank González, Chairman of Grupo Financiero Banorte, predicted “extraordinary” years for Mexico, given that President Claudia Sheinbaum has sent positive signals to the business sector just a few days into her term.
The banker said that businessmen should feel “fortunate” to be living in a period in which there is a lot of growth as a result of the trade relationship between Mexico, the United States and Canada, and now, with the election of Donald Trump as US president, “there is already certainty” of what is to come.
Hank González indicated that with the past administration, headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador there was “a close, open and transparent relationship with the banks”, since everything the executive promised to do “was what he did”.
“With President Sheinbaum we see the same thing, she has shown an enormous interest in being close to the companies. Two weeks later she called us to an open meeting in which she told us about her objectives to give certainty to Mexican business, we are excited to work with her and her government and to be an ally of Mexico,” said the banker.
In a meeting with the media on the occasion of Banorte’s 125th anniversary celebrations, Hank González was asked whether the period of greatest volatility in the financial markets is over and about the views that various groups of analysts have on the country’s economic situation, to which he said he was “enthusiastic”.
