Tesla is providing Cybertruck discounts as the EV market becomes congested
Tesla began giving discounts on new Cybertruck vehicles in its inventory this week, according to the company’s website.
The postings offer discounts of up to $1,600 off new Cybertrucks, with the lowered price varying by configuration, and up to roughly $2,600 for demo versions of the trucks in inventory. Production of the angular, unpainted steel pickups has apparently slowed in recent weeks at Tesla’s Austin, Texas, factory.
Customers began receiving deliveries of the unusual pickup in 2023. CEO Elon Musk first announced the Cybertruck in 2019 with a price tag of roughly $40,000, but by 2024, the base price in the United States had risen to $80,000.
The Tesla Model Y SUV and Model 3 car ranked as the top two best-selling EVs by a large margin. But both older, more cheaper Tesla models saw sales dip from the previous year. Cox estimated Tesla sold roughly 38,965 Cybertrucks in the U.S. last year.
