European business executives in Davos support Trump’s desire for deregulation

Business leaders in Davos joined calls by U.S. President Donald Trump for the European Union to accelerate efforts to reduce regulation and increase competition to prevent the bloc from falling further behind other developed markets.

Trump told the global business elite Thursday via video conference at the World Economic Forum‘s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, that the European Union treated the United States poorly and made it difficult for products to enter Europe.

He warned that companies should make products in the U.S. or face tariffs and said that, under his administration, the U.S. would be the best place to build factories and create jobs.

Executives in Davos stated that Trump’s promises to reverse corporate regulation in the US had added urgency to the EU’s ongoing discussion on how to increase competitiveness.
