Santander’s CEO announces investments worth $2 billion in Mexico

Banco Santander’s president, Ana Botín, announced a $2 billion investment in Mexico, indicating that the country has «more growth potential».

The CEO of Santander met with President Claudia Sheinbaum in the National Palace on Monday, a visit that the president described as a statement of «confidence in the country.»

Botín emphasized Mexico’s stable public finances and «the macro part is working» in the country.

“It is a country with very interesting demographics in the medium term,” he added as another factor to increase investment in Mexico.

In addition, Botín highlighted as “very positive” the ‘Plan Mexico’, the program launched by Sheinbaum’s government to modernize the economy and boost growth, especially in the infrastructure and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sectors.
