Automaker Stellantis said Thursday it shares U.S. President Donald Trump’s goal of making more cars in the United States, while thanking him for granting a one-month exemption from tariffs on Canada and Mexico.

“We thank President Trump for the decision.” Stellantis said in a statement after the White House announced Wednesday that Trump would exclude automakers from his 25% tariffs on the two countries for one month as provided as they followed existing free trade standards.

We support the president’s goal of increasing American auto production and creating long-term American jobs. «We are excited to work with him and his team,» Stellantis said in a statement.

Its shares, which are listed in Milan, rose 3.4% in early European trading. Earlier this week, shares fell to €10.84, the lowest since Stellantis was formed in early 2021 through the merger of Fiat Chrysler and PSA, which controls Peugeot.

The corporation, which announced investments in its US operations at the start of Trump’s presidency in January, stated that it enthusiastically supported «his determination to allow the U.S. automotive sector to thrive.»
