Tesla to recall 46,000 Cybertrucks, citing external panels that potentially raise the ‘risk of crash’

Tesla Cybertruck recall

Tesla is recalling over 46,000 Cybertrucks due to a cosmetic exterior trim panel that can «delaminate and detach from the vehicle,» potentially causing a traffic hazard and «increasing the risk of a crash.»

The recall affects all Cybertruck vehicles made between November 2023 and February 2025 and involves an external component known as a cant rail, according to Tesla’s complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall of Cybertrucks comes at an already difficult moment for the struggling EV company, whose stock price has fallen by more than 40% while CEO Elon Musk continues to serve as a major advisor to the Trump administration.

Owners of impacted cars can bring their Cybertrucks to Tesla’s service department for a free replacement of the cant rail, the company stated in its filing.
