Chinese companies start raising pricing on Amazon

China’s Anker, one of Amazon’s biggest sellers of power banks and phone cases, has raised prices on a fifth of its products on the US platform since Thursday, indicating that taxes on Chinese goods are being passed on to US customers.

According to statistics from e-commerce service provider SmartScout, the average price of 127 Anker products has risen by 18% since Thursday last week, with the majority of those increases occurring after Monday, April 7, when US President Donald Trump imposed an additional 50% import tariff on Chinese goods.

US import duties on Chinese goods are presently at 145%. Beijing boosted its tariff on U.S. imports to 125% on Friday, as the world’s two largest economies’ trade conflict heated up.
