Spotify will increase its fees across Europe and Latin America

According to people close to the company, Spotify plans to increase subscription costs in «dozens of countries around the world,» the Financial Times (FT) reported on Friday.
The Swedish streaming music service plans to increase costs starting in June «by the equivalent of one euro on individual subscriptions in countries in Europe and Latin America,» according to the Financial Times.
However, because it raised subscriptions in the US in July 2024, Spotify would keep rates the same in the US, which is its biggest market.
Spotify has started to raise pricing in a few countries, like the Netherlands and Luxembourg, in recent weeks, but the newspaper claims that this move «will intensify considerably» in the summer.
According to sources cited by the British publication, Spotify and other streaming services are thinking of charging an additional $6 per month over the usual rate in exchange for providing a «super premium» service that grants subscribers first dibs on music releases and event tickets.
