The amount of money Mexican entrepreneurs invest overseas rises by 131%
The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) informed that investment by Mexican businessmen abroad increased by more than 131 percent during the first quarter of 2025, a year that began with uncertainty and volatility due to Donald Trump’s tariff policy.
“During the first quarter of 2025, investment by Mexicans abroad was 1,566 million dollars compared to 677 million dollars during the same period last year,” according to Banxico’s Balance of Payments.
In 2022, Mexicans living overseas invested over 14.531 billion dollars, and in 2023, Mexican entrepreneurs invested 6.576 billion dollars overseas.
The central bank also noted that Mexican investors made new investments, reinvestments, and intercompany account transactions. Mexican companies invested in various industries and economic activities in Spain, France, Germany, the United States, and other Latin American countries.
