Trump accuses China of “totally violating” trade agreement with U.S.

In a new accusation against Beijing at a time when trade talks seem to be at a standstill, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed in a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday morning that China had «violated» the agreement between the two nations to lower its tariffs.
«China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US,» Trump wrote, hours after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that talks with Beijing are «a bit stalled.»
U.S.-China trade negotiations are «a bit stalled» and reaching a deal will likely require the direct involvement of President Donald Trump and his peer Xi Jinping, the Treasury secretary said Thursday.
Two weeks after Bessent-led negotiations that resulted in a temporary truce in the trade war between the world’s two largest economies, Bessent told Fox News that progress since then has been slow, though he clarified that he expects more talks in the coming weeks.
