Aztema: the partnership between China and Mexico that boosts the Guanajuato tire industry

In an environment where nearshoring is redefining global supply chains, Mexico’s Bajío region is consolidating its position as the epicenter of high-tech manufacturing. It is in this dynamic ecosystem where strategic vision and international collaboration demonstrate their power to transform industries, and the automotive sector is the main protagonist.

This is the case of Aztema, an ambitious joint venture between the Mexican company Tire Direct and the Asian giant Sailun, which is celebrating a key milestone in its trajectory: the production of its first tire on national soil. This achievement is not just a finished product, but the result of a clear vision and a strategic investment of more than 400 million dollars.

Aztema’s plant, which is situated in Irapuato, Guanajuato’s Puerto Interior Industrial Park, is intended to serve as a standard for efficiency and technology throughout the continent. The project aims to supply the expanding North American market with a premium product made in Mexico, with an initial production capacity of six million tires per year.
