Nvidia orders suppliers to halt production of AI chip H20 focused on China, according to The Information

As reported by The Information on Thursday, Nvidia has requested some of its component suppliers to pause production of its H20 AI chip, which is specifically designed for the Chinese market.

This information comes from two sources familiar with the discussions. The report indicates that Nvidia has directed Amkor Technology, based in Arizona, to stop producing H20 chips and has also informed Samsung Electronics of South Korea.

Amkor handles the advanced packaging for the chip, while Samsung provides the model’s high-capacity memory chips.

This follows the summoning of domestic companies, including major internet firms like Tencent and ByteDance, by Chinese authorities last week regarding their purchases of the H20 chip, with concerns raised about information risks.
