For the third year in a row, Amazon will hire 250,000 people over the holiday season

Amazon

As the e-commerce behemoth gets ready for a spike in orders, Amazon said that it will hire 250,000 people for the holiday season across its fulfillment and shipping networks in the United States, the same number as the previous two years.

But as Americans brace for the effects of President Donald Trump’s tariff policies, Monday’s statement comes amid worries that they would be frugal with their holiday shopping.

Adobe Analytics, a data firm, predicted last week that although U.S. holiday online sales will increase more slowly this year, e-commerce will still surpass overall sales growth.

Since the majority of goods is already in the nation, Trump’s most recent tariffs on Chinese imports will not significantly affect holiday sales.

According to Amazon, seasonal workers will often make more than $19 per hour, while full-time and part-time staff will be paid $23 per hour with benefits.
