After concluding 2025 with «solid results,» General Motors (GM) Mexico planned a $1 billion investment over the following two years in its local manufacturing facilities.

In contrast to the uncertainty created months ago by reports of a potential exit or operational cutbacks. The automaker declared that it «remains firm» in the nation for 2026.

Paco Garza, President and CEO of GM Mexico, made the news, stating that the investment is a part of a «new strategy». That is in line with government initiatives to bolster the domestic market and upcoming projects that are centered on domestic demand.

He declared that «we closed 2025 with solid results» and that «we will continue to work on future projects focused on domestic demand, reinforcing our long-term commitment to Mexico.»

A statement claims that GM sold 198,153 units at the end of 2025. Maintaining its position as the industry’s second-largest brand with a 12.2% market share.

Sales increased 11.2% in December alone over the same month in 2024 because to a 10% rise in Chevrolet and a 27.7% increase in the Premium channel. Which includes brands like Cadillac, GMC, and Buick.

In the statement, the business also highlighted commercial achievements, such as Cadillac’s highest performance since 2017 and Buick and GMC’s best annual sales ever.

Additionally, GM claimed to be the market leader in a number of categories, including small vans (52.7%), large luxury SUVs (39%), compact pickups (38.5%), and large SUVs (78.8%).

Following public outcry in 2025 when the government ruled out GM shutdown or withdrawal amid allegations of production changes and the transfer of several models to the United States. Beginning in 2027, the message of permanence was released.

GM stated that further details on investment and particular manufacturing projects will be made public at a later time.
