David Guggina is named CEO of Walmart in the United States

On Friday, Walmart appointed David Guggina, an executive with extensive experience, to head its US division, replacing John Furner, who will take over as CEO of the retail giant.

The company announced in November that Doug McMillon would retire after more than a decade at the helm and that Furner would succeed him on January 31.

Guggina, currently director of e-commerce for Walmart US, has held various positions during his nearly eight years with the company, including executive vice president of supply chain operations for the division.
