Mexican agricultural exports are boosted by the Super Bowl; the top-selling products include chickpeas, cattle, and avocados

Due to the surge in exports before Super Bowl LX, which will be played between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots, avocados, beef, and chickpeas are the Mexican stars of the game.

According to the Uruapan-based agency, avocado shipments increased by 11% over the four weeks preceding the Super Bowl in comparison to the previous year.

More than 88% of the avocados exported to the US market originate from Michoacán, while 12% come from Jalisco.

With almost 114,000 tons consumed, mostly shipped in the weeks before the game. The Super Bowl continues to be the event with the biggest consumption of Mexican avocados in the United States.

As of January 31, 2026, Mexican beef exports to the United States grew by 8.86 percent compared to January 2025. In that month, 20,739 tons of beef were sold.

The increase in shipments from Mexico comes in a context of more restricted supply from Brazil to the U.S. market. As well as tariffs imposed by the Donald Trump administration that some of its main competitors face.

Mexican green chickpea sales and consumption have increased in all US retail chains since 2000. According to Guadalupe «El Rey del Frijol» Miranda, president of Arizona Fresh.

During the Super Bowl, the superfood grown in Sonora and Sinaloa lands is consumed in large quantities in Texas, Chicago, and California.

Mexican chickpeas are shipped to the US, where they are used by Mexicans as guasanas and hummus, as well as as an alternative to animal protein during Lent and throughout the year.
