Musk attacks Anthropic following its $30 billion fundraising round, calling it «evil and misanthropic.»
In his latest attack on a rival company after similar disputes with Google and OpenAI. Elon Musk attacked Anthropic on Thursday, just after the company announced it had raised an additional $30 billion in funding. Musk made unsubstantiated claims that the company’s AI models hated white people, heterosexuals, men, and other groups.
At a $380 billion valuation, Anthropic said in a post on X that it had raised an extra $30 billion in funding. The company said the investment would enable it expand its research and enhance its products, notably its chatbot Claude.
Without providing any proof, Musk commented on its social media platform in reaction to Anthropic’s announcement: «Your AI hates white people and Asians, especially Chinese, heterosexuals, and men.»
The billionaire then demanded that the firm «fix» the supposed issue, calling it «misanthropic and evil.»
«To escape the inevitable irony that Anthropic will end up being misanthropic… You were doomed to this fate when you chose your name,» Musk stated at the time, expressing his belief that the company was powerless to stop it.
This is Musk’s first public criticism of Claude-maker’s AI models. Despite his public conflicts with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and his criticism of Google’s Gemini for being too «woke.»
His initial efforts with Anthropic were mostly based on his conviction that the business would not «win» the race to artificial intelligence.
