The travel rental platform Airbnb is offering $750 to attract new hosts in the 16 North American cities preparing to welcome millions of visitors for the FIFA World Cup in mid-2026.

New “entire home” hosts who successfully complete their first guest stay between now and July 31 will be eligible for the payment under the program, according to Airbnb, which has described it as the company’s biggest incentive for new hosts.

FIFA announced last month that it had received more than 500 million ticket requests for the 2026 World Cup in 33 days.

During the FIFA World Cup, which the United States, Canada, and Mexico will host, demand for lodging has surged. In certain host cities, vacation rental costs on match days have increased by as much as 50% over the previous year, according to travel data provider AirDNA.

With revenues per host topping $5,000 in all three cities, Airbnb projects that hosts in the New York-New Jersey, Boston, and Los Angeles regions will make the most money during the tournament.
