Michael Leiters, CEO of Porsche, turns to classic gasoline models to recover his margin

The first plan, which will be put into action immediately in the upcoming months, will concentrate on a streamlined model lineup and assess choices that are more expensive than two-door sports cars, such the 911, 718, and Cayenne SUV, where special features can increase margins even more.
Currently, Porsche has six models available worldwide, ranging from sports cars and high-performance electrified vehicles to the entry-level Macan compact SUV.
This includes China, which was formerly a very lucrative market for Porsche but saw a more than 25% decline in sales in 2025 as local competitors like BYD and Xiaomi gained market share with more reasonably priced, technologically advanced luxury SUVs.
