Amazon will allow automobile dealers to sell vehicles on its website, beginning with Hyundai
Customers will be able to buy automobiles on Amazon as a result of the change, but the dealer will be the final seller.
Amazon will allow auto dealers to sell automobiles on its website beginning next year, beginning with South Korean automaker Hyundai, the firm announced Thursday.
Over the years, the corporation has gradually worked its way into the car-buying sector, introducing digital showrooms on its website where customers can explore and compare vehicles but not buy them directly from Amazon. Customers can also purchase car products such as replacement parts from its website.
Starting in 2024, Amazon will allow customers to buy a new automobile online and then pick it up or have it delivered by a local dealership. Customers will be able to look for available vehicles in their neighborhood, choose one, and check out on Amazon using their preferred payment and financing method.
The new function, according to the corporation, will «create another way for dealers to build awareness of their selection and offer convenience to their customers.»
According to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, the collaboration with Hyundai will improve «the ease with which customers can buy vehicles online.» As part of the agreement, Hyundai will install Amazon’s Alexa speech assistant in its vehicles beginning in 2025.
