Volkswagen incorporates ChatGPT into its small cars

At the CES electronics trade show in Las Vegas on Monday, Volkswagen unveiled its first cars with a voice assistant that incorporates ChatGPT technology, allowing drivers to have researched content read to them while they drive.

Through a collaboration with Cerence Inc., the chatbot is integrated and able to manage in-car entertainment and respond to general knowledge inquiries. According to a statement from the automaker, it may talk to drivers and engage in additional activities in the future.

Volkswagen claimed to be the first major manufacturer to incorporate the technology into all of its small-car models. GM said in March of last year that ChatGPT’s AI models were being used to create a virtual personal assistant.

In June of last year, Mercedes-Benz conducted a test program that allowed ChatGPT to be downloaded into almost 900,000 cars equipped with the manufacturer’s «MBUX» system. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to allow consumers to perform things such as booking a movie or restaurant while driving.
