Apple will not develop a smart ring, claims Oura CEO
Apple will not produce a smart ring, according to the CEO of health-tech business Oura, despite reports that the iPhone giant is considering entering this product area.
But Tom Hale, CEO of Oura, which has been creating smart rings since its inception in 2013, believes Apple will not enter the field.
«I think they [Apple] are unconvinced about the value of having a ring and a watch together, and they’re not interested in undercutting the Apple Watch as a business,» Hale told CNBC during an interview on Tuesday at the Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal.
Under CEO Tim Cook, Apple has placed a strong emphasis on health applications via the Apple Watch and associated services.
